Glenvale Christian School

We are an inter-denominational, co-educational day school, located in beautiful Toowoomba, which caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. We are a friendly and welcoming school that seeks to provide a Christ-centred education for our students which is grounded in biblical values and the promotion of a positive and engaging learning environment for all students.

Our Mission Statement

The mission of Glenvale Christian School is, "with humble reliance upon the grace of our sovereign God, in order to assist Christian parents to fulfill their educational responsibility, and complementing the work of the Christian Church, to nurture our students in the fear and admonition of the Lord and to develop towards full potential the gifts, skills, talents and creativity which the Lord has given to each student."

The goal of this nurture is so that our students may:

  • Individually confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour
  • Determine to follow and obey Him in all areas of life throughout all their lives
  • Mature emotionally, morally and socially
  • Grow in knowledge and self-discipline
  • Be prepared for further learning and for their life's calling
  • Develop in their responsibility for, and enjoyment of, life in God's Kingdom
Why Christian Schooling?

Today more than ever, our children need an education which is Christ-centred, allowing the child to grow academically and spiritually in an environment of care. Christian education is about engaging with the world and preparing students for lives that reflect, serve and honour God. It is about acknowledging God in every subject area and in every area of life.

Partnering with parents in a different way

The following bible verses describe the important responsibility parents have in the development and learning of their children:

Ephesians 6:4 states, "Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord."

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 states, "And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise."

At Glenvale Christian School, we believe that parents should make careful and conscious decisions about:

  • What their children learn
  • Who they are learning from
  • The values they are being taught in the school curriculum. An education at Glenvale Christian School is guided by our belief in God, His Word the Bible and the guidance the Bible gives us in how we should live and treat one another.
What makes a Christian education different?

Every school teaches from a point of view. It may never be written down, but it is there in what is chosen for the curriculum, in how questions are answered, and in the quiet assumptions about where the world came from, what a good life looks like, and what a person is for. There is no such thing as a neutral classroom.

At Glenvale Christian School we are open about our point of view. All learning at our school is addressed within a Biblical Christian Worldview. Our model for learning is simple: on every topic, in every subject, we begin with the question, What does the Bible say about this? As Christian people, we believe the Bible is the Truth by which we live and through which we view the world we live in, and so it shapes not only what we teach, but how we teach it.

We believe the world was made by God, that it is held together in Jesus, and this changes how every subject is understood. A child learning to read, to add fractions, to paint, to throw a ball or to care for a classmate is not doing something separate from their faith. They are discovering a world that God made and finding out what it means to live well in it.

That is the difference. Not different subjects, but a different frame around all of them — one that gives learning its meaning and gives children a solid place to stand.
